    Well, i got there.
I imported pics as windows7 instructed and i have them stored away.
And now i am unable to share with friends in a forum that i frequent.
I take a photo to paint, size it, and that's it, it just sits there.

BTW, i actually paid a tutor to come to my house.
We thought we'd cracked it but we hadn't.
Instead of posting an image all we managed to do was post a jpg number.

I know you'll think that i'm taking the waters, but i have no place else to go, and i'm sorry.

First things first, you need a site to upload the pictures you want to share to. You need to do this as we out here on the internet can not see the files you have on your computer.
I use fickr and photobucket, personally I think flickr is easier but whitch ever you chose they will have their good and bad points.

go to flickr.com and press sign up fill in first and last name, make a yahoo id and put in your date of birth. there is nothing stopping you using a made up name and date although it might be easier just to use the right one.

When you have your space and can login to it then we can start thinking about the pictures.
Now you want to resize them as bot will they be faster and easier to see on screen but also makes it more difficult for people to use them without you permission.
You can do this in paint although you might want to look into more specialised programs if you are going to do much of this and or edit the pictures.
Open the picture in paint, go to resize and chose pixels rather than percentage. now change the long side of the picture to 800 make sure lock aspect radio is ticked. Then very important, chose Save as and chose .jpg give it a name and put it somewhere you can find it.

    Back to Flickr
Chose upload then choose photos or videos find you picture you just made and upload it. Now you are done, give your friends the link or share it with us here and or on other forums.
Just remember that ones a picture is on the internet you won't be able to delete it so keep that in mind when choosing things to upload ;)

Snorri has described a way of getting pictures onto this forum, but I got the impression from the OP that he's referring to another forum. Since different forums (fora? :) ) have different ways of dealing with pictures, we probably need to know which other forum it is in order to give helpful advice. It may also depend on there being someone here who is also a member of the same other forum.

    Alex an Snorri,
    i almost didn't dare to look, it's a bit of a cheek i know.

Guys, i really don't want to be going into flicker and other such hosts.

I really cannot believe that it's not possible to post photos from the W7 Paint thing, or library/whatever.
I can't put an ask out where i'd like to post them because i tried with the camera stuff and gave up.

I suppose i could attempt it here, but if it's not possible to do it with the set-up that i have, well......

If there really is no way of doing without an online host LIKE flicker, well then i'm just about ready to let go of this.
I shall of course keep my ear to the ground, something or somebody might happen by.

Whatever happened to cut and paste?

    Thanks for responding,

I have not used them but the galleries on this site allow direct upload and I think there is only a file size limit (not a file size and image size limit as there is for forum posting).

Whether or not this is easier than posting on flickr I cannot say. I was looking for the monthly competition which is how I found the galleries.

i shall look into that, thanks.

The place where i'm wanting to post stuff, there's this "insert image " tab, and there it all gets a little confused.

If i could put pics in here, maybe i could c+p from here.

Much patience from you people is needed.

    i mull over suggestions,
it takes me an absolute age to pluck up the confidence,
and i have to be in the mood.
Because i have very low expectations.

    So please,
your thoughts ARE appreciated, just don't expect too much from me eh?

it will HAVE to wait until the weekend.

Just in case anybody has an interest in this, i shall let you know if i find a solution.

Sorry, I have a hosting site, but I am testing options that this forum gives for sharing images. Obviously, this last one didn't work as a link or submission.

Just a quick thought re-the Facebook thing...do you actually have a Facebook account? Because if not, you don't need to worry about accidentally sharing photos there. You would first need a Facebook account and you would then have to go into the dreaded settings to "allow" your camera to upload to that account. This would involve a short, not-that complicated setting up process that you'd have to go through before you could post anything there and from the sounds of it, you haven't done that and aren't likely to so that's probably one worry to cross off your list!

Is the forum that you want to use a public one? If one of us were to join and attempt to post pictures there we could perhaps talk you through the process?

    Geren, that's a fantastic idea,thank you.

This forum ISN'T where i was intending to post my photos, but it might help.
Also, if i could figure out how to use the "gallery" option here.
In the place where i would like to post pics, they have a "photos, and album" section, a bit like your gallery i suspect.

Gentlemen, we'll see how i'm feeling at the weekend.

I could just attempt to cut and paste one from your gallery. Might be worth a shot.

I must admit that i'm overcome by how difficult something like posting photos seems to be, and am feeling quite fazed by it all.

I really would like to nail this one.

I'm a blogger you see, in another world.

Am looking at at joining a WINDOWS 7 help forum also.

I have much to think about right now.

i've been pressing buttons/flicking switches and the bottom line is, that i've uploaded photos to the album in my other place, I have used one for an Avatar but if i try to post one in a forum thread, all i post is that damned jpg number.

I've looked at the pictures in your gallery and they don't appear to have a date on them, mine do.

Getting angry now, best call it a day imo.

In my other place, if i click on "insert image" i get a pop-up, something along the lines of "manage attachments".
If i click on "insert image" here, nothing happens.

I have this nagging feeling that the problem is both a lack of understanding with how forums work AND Windows 7 knowledge.

I just saved and pasted a picture from your gallery to my other place.

So, i need to learn how to put pics in your gallery and if you would allow me to do this, how to remove them from your gallery also.
    They really don't belong there.

Well, i've started an album here, i think, and i've managed to c&p to other place.
I just need to try and make them a bit bigger now.

    Not massive.

About thirds the size of this box that i'm now typing in would be nice.

    Any suggestions please?

And i've still got that date in the picture.

Maybe that's something that i have to workout with W7.

    But hey!

    It's a start.:)

That should read "about two thirds".

Y'know? The hours that i must've wasted in the Windows "paint" thing.
I open up a photo to paint, i size it to a size that seems about right for posting in a thread, and it sits there. I can't use it, move it, save it, post it, nothing, it's driving me nuts, and i bet i'm just a click away.

Just finished with a computer-help forum.
    Photo hosting websites etc.
I think that i shall have to call it a day.

You have to be a computer wizard, i almost wish that i was, but i'm not.

Just one question, if i may.
When i go into my pictures, and click on the small picture, it goes massive, and there's an option to enlarge. I really like to make it smaller, about the size of a cigarette packet, is that possible please?

When you go into your pictures, where? On here? On your computer? On another forum?
