First Fuji Sunrise

    Went out this morning (4:15) to photograph the sunrise over the nearest village with my X-E2 and 18/2 lens.

    I ended up needing a 3 stop ND Grad (Cokin P sized) and this is what the setup looked like:

    I like the sky in the first. My preference is always for the gentler pre-dawn light. As soon as the sun rises, or a little before then the inevitable blown highlights wreck the scene for me. The starburst I can understand but I find these more satisfying at dusk where the light is more diffused. Overall, I find dawn much more satisfying but the best moments are fleeting.

    This was the best of the pre-sun pictures, I was set-up waiting for about half an hour or so before the sun appeared, so I took a few pictures to keep my hand in...

    But it looks later than the sky in the first image, which looks to me to be ideal.
