Can someone give me some quick tips on how to get fill-in flash exposures right with my GX-1S, please? The handbook doesn't quite explain...
Hi Adam, IME, it takes a bit of playing around with the "flash compensation" to get the fill-flash working properly and if you are doing mostly daytime flash photography ... I usually have it set at -.5 or -1 depending upon the light And, FWIW, if the GX-1S is anything like my IST*Ds, the flash compensation in is found at the end of the first menu Hope this helps. Cheers, Jack
Thanks, Jack. I tend not to use flash usually, but now I have a camera with one on board, I thought I'd make use of it. I'll have a play.
Re: Fill-in flash with GX-1S -- (fill flash pic with IST*Ds) 3imgs Morning Adam, Here are three(3) shots I did (this past) Sunday afternoon using my IST*Ds and my add-on flash (Pentax FGZ 360) and I believe I had the flash compensation set to -.5 PHOTO #1) PHOTO #2) PHOTO #3) Cheers, Jack
Re: Fill-in flash with GX-1S -- (fill flash pic with IST*Ds) 3imgs Brilliantly sharp images, Jack. may I ask which lens you were using? Do you use one of those 'plastic milk bottle' diffusers? I have recently bought the AF 540 FGZ gun, but I haven't used it yet!
Re: Fill-in flash with GX-1S -- (fill flash pic with IST*Ds) 3imgs Hi David, Thank you sir and I was using my an old Tokina AF 80-200/2.8 (brilliant in good light but in so-so light) and it was just direct flash -- no bounce, no diffusers -- with, as mentioned, the flash compensation set at (about) -.5 Cheers and, Now, get our there and use that 540FGZ Jack
