What gets me is when you see signs for "artisan bread" or coffee or whatever. Must be gifted bread/coffee if they can be artisans.

I've been a bit distracted so only now starting to wade, I mean meander, through all the entries so far. I hope I am not too late to wish you a successful op and a speedy recovery! Look forward to seeing you on the other side so to speak!

You've had a visit from the sock fairy!

I once had the idea of the National Odd Sock Exchange, whereby you sent your odd socks to a central depot and, for a small fee (possibly just one or two of the socks and p&p), they would match them up with other peoples odd socks and you would get pairs back.
When I mentioned this idea to people, they tended to give me funny looks.
    Can't think why...

One theory might be that a prophet is without honour in his own land. Another is nobody likes a smart arse.

From the Archive (2012), so for amusement only.

The thread asking for hints on how to design a camera bag made me think back to the one time that I got really, truly soaked to the point that my camera bags were dripping water out of the bottom. It was in Brussels at an annual event called Floralia where the garden of a old mansion (Grand Bigard, Groot Bijgaarden) gets planted out with, I believe, every variety of tulip there is. Plus, just about every thing else that can be in flower in spring. It is absolutely stunning. There are acres of flower beds. Here is a taster. There is an album on Flickr with more but I found they were uploaded as straight jpg conversions as none of the images in LR had any processing on them.

No you were not too late and thank you for your good wishes. Also thanks everyone else for theirs.

Op was yesterday afternoon and appears to have gone very well although still settling down and it's just over two weeks before I am signed off and I can then get an eye test and a new set of specs,

Thanks for the good wishes again
