Epson 3170 colour ghosting

My Epson 3170 has started creating coloured ghost images when I scan colour negatives. They seem to be cyan/magenta. It bahaves when scanning black and white. This is really annoying me as I use it to scan negs from my Holga - the quality of the Holga doesn't justify the expense of having medium format scans done professionally, so I'm not using it. Any suggestions?

Try phoning Epson, they have a good telephone support line on the website.

Does the scanner create these ghosts when scanning other negs (non Holga ones)?

I see what you're thinking, but yes, it does it with 35mm colour negatives, too. It appears to be splitting the colour channels, so they look like those old 3D pictures that need the special glasses.

Oddly, it scanned some colour slides the other day with no trouble.

I've just followed that to it's logical conclusion and tried scanning some negs as positives - the same ghosting happens.
