I like it. Well composed and it's sharp, colors are nice.

    Well done.

Wonderful to see although not sure the light is working in your favour. Well captured anyway.

    Is this a rare one?

I can only comment - brilliant. I agree with Andrew that the top/back-lighting casts a little shadow on it. Front/side light would have made a difference but I'd guess you'd have been waist deep in it! :)

    Thanks folks.
No the insects are not rare but it's not too common to see this species mating - they often do it while still in flight.

Interestingly nobody has made the comment that I most expected. This pic has had more P'Shop than any other I've ever posted = enough to rule it out of any NH competition/exhibition.
My P'Shop skills are minimal so I'm pleased that nobody (so far) has beaten me up for what I think is the crudity of my efforts.

Anything to do with the BG. First thing I noticed was the BG through the wing of the bottom dragonfly.
Looks like something may have been altered but you were unable to do anything behind the wing.

I dismissed that idea though when I first looked at it and assumed it was just a bright spot, which of course it may well be.

Whether there is PS witchcraft involved anywhere is irrelevant in my mind though. Still a great photo.

Pretty close. I've dramatically blurred the background. As you say the wings are a problem. Given my low level P'Shop skills I'm happy that nobody jumped all over it.
In fact I posted it to test the 'visibility' of my messing rather than as a picture of the insect.

I don't want to be seen as jumping on stuff. I thought the wings really lowered the quality of the image, and I wondered why they looked wrong. Also, the blur along the edge of the body stands out as being an issue, I wasn't sure if it was lens abberations, processing, or something else.

    So I kept schtum.
