Winter Robin by Adrian Sadlier, on Flickr

I had a few minutes to kill this afternoon so I dragged the 200-500 mm across the road to my local park. I only stayed 20 minutes as I didn't bother to wear a coat (bad decision). But this little fella obligingly posed for me!

I like that. I think you get away with the bright top right because of the foreground focus so I'd leave it as framed.

Yes nice, but I'd tone the NE corner down a bit.

You could crop it portrait and that's this year's Christmas card done. Very nice but not a competition winner.

Lovely robin but the bright light on its back and in the top right corner I find a little distracting.

Yes, that’s nice. Next one, try for a singing moment! It won’t be long before they are in full voice.

This one was singing, until I got close enough to take a shot!

I will have to "borrow" a D500 for the extra reach, hope for a sunnier day and stick the 1.7 tele converter on the 200-500, or be patient.

But I will get a shot of one singing :)

If your patient enough and have a pocket full of mealworm you can get Robins to eat out of your hand.

Very nice. Think you can go 1/2 stop lighter without losing any of the highlights.
