I was given a Minox 35GT by a Gent a couple of years ago -- it is German-made, plastic construction, with a 35mm f2.8 Color-Minotar lens. It came with a dead battery which was a now-illegal MERCURY type but I found a supplier by asking on THIS site and got a replacement, also 'Maplins' opened a branch in Brentwood and they sold me another Chinese-made replacement as a spare. It takes standard 35mm film as it is NOT the Minox 'Spy Camera' type. It has a hot shoe for flash and when a unit is fitted the shutter is automatically set to 1/125th second. You can set the ASA as you want, on the bottom plate so you can use 'outdated films' and give them the more exposure they need by setting a lower ASA number from the box speed. You cannot choose a shutter speed as camera is 'aperture priority' only, ie you set and aperture you want and camera sets speed up to 1/500th. There is an 'over-ride' slider for exposure where you can set x2 exposure for mostly white subjects such as snow, light beach scenes and back-lit subjects. I HAVE used this control. There is also a slider by the hot-shoe for 'T' Time Exposures which I have NOT used. Film rewind button and camera back opening are on the base-plate. It is NOT 'auto-focus' so you have to remember to 'Estimate' ( Professionals do not 'Guess' as I was told once by Head of Department at barking College where I was a Tutor before the 1980's Recession) and set distance on scale near lens.

I saw one of these on the local flea market one Monday morning for £15. I hadn't got enough cash on me so I went down to the shops and called in at the local library to have a quick internet search as to whether or not is was worth investing in....
after reading what I needed to know I went back determined to haggle down to a tenner....got back and it had been sold!
    Talk about snoozing and losing....:)

Loved my Minox 35 GT, used it for years, from ‘90 until it stopped working in the early 2000s with a failed wind on mechanism. Sharp lens, aperture priority, nice and compact. Bought another off eBay, recently. In fully working order and better cosmetically than my first was back when I got it (never mind how it ended up!!!!)

One warning with these - the hot shoe is shorter than normal and the height lower so you need to be very careful inserting a flash - I broke mine that way.

I don`t know if you noticed but this thread is over three years old. It`s always best to start a new thread than resurrect an old one.

You could always link to the old thread.
