The last part of the Technique feature, page 21 “stay dry” includes the text “if my kit gets .. damp. I’ll keep it in the camera bag for a few hours .... so the gear can acclimatise ...” Substitute “cold” for “damp” and it is good advice but I’d think leaving damp kit in a (presumably also damp) bag (hard to see how it would have stayed dry) is about the worse thing you could do to a camera and lens.
I agree on that. Take it out of the bag into the open and place it in a not too warm place with preferably a bit of a draft and it will be far better for it
