1,3 and 4 work well for me. The out of focus approach in 4 is most effective. It might be worth losing that small branch at the bottom of 3 to concentrate fully on the pattern the logs make.

The principal aspect which separates these three out is the use of light. 2 and 5, particularly 2, lack the vibrancy of lighting which would lift them from the dullness they currenlty exhibit. A bit of added contrast and saturation in PS might lift 5 a bit but 2 I think is a bit too dull to save.

Number 5 may be a bit flat but you could tweak it a bit if selling it to joe public :)

Chris [IMG] ...now where did I leave me tweaking brushes...

    I quite like them.
Number 1 is either Kellogs All Bran, or possibly you have a habit of saving all the little stringy bits from Golden Shred marmalade, after sucking them clean.

    I thought it was rice.../img/wwwthreads/frown.gif

I like the logs, but I love the leaves...I suppose you could see how they could benefit from brightening, but I was seeing it more like a cold blue winter's morning which I thought it showed well...

Number 2 is way too dark, could have been really good otherwise.

Not keen on 4 though, it's not quite lined up straight and you can make loads of photos like that.

    Leaves for me!!

I liked 1 for it's "originality" factor and the lighting. What is it anyway Chris...................it's not really "sucked dry slices of orange shred" as Graham suggested is it? /img/wwwthreads/smile.gif

    Seven ..or eight

Hard to comment on 2 3 and 5 Chris as they are all much done images and although well done a bit 'boring'(for want of a better word) for me.

First one is my fave, just been looking for ages trying to figure out what it is and I really like the depth and light on this giving a 3D effect.

I like #1 which is, undoubtedly, a macro shot of French Fries....or Chips as they are known in your (collective) neck of the woods/img/wwwthreads/wink.gif.

Don't take this as an insult Chris, because it isn't meant to be, but they'd make rather nice Windows wallpaper /img/wwwthreads/wink.gif
Still don't really know what No 1 is though

    Thanks Tanya,

The first one is a crystalised rock structure, taken in the natural history museum.
