No - I don't think I could get either the X-300 or the XG-M into the challenge unless I do a bit of swings and roundabouts with some lenses etc. No - I'll stick to the SRT which did well yesterday with the 50/1.7 and the Delta 400.

    Never mind the loupe!

............so when do we get to see the piccies then Tim? We can't have Fangs getting ahead in the challenge by posting all this good stuff without any opposition! /img/wwwthreads/smile.gif

If I get the time to mount the trannies over the w/e, and if I can summon up the will to stoke up the steam-powered scanner then you'll get something Will.

I'm still "testing", BigWill - though I have been very pleased with the results from the Minolta gear so far. The other day I was using the Vivtar Series 1 70-210mm lens (not part of the challenge) and it is also very impressive.

Just recently I have been using the Canon G2 digital camera quite a bit - but on scanning Delta 400 negatives from the 30-year old Minolta equipment (at a fraction of the price of the digicam) I was gobsmacked by the difference in quality. The old Minolta stuff knocks the 4mp captured images into outer space.

    This is quality photography!

I have an X700. Lovely camera, but not for sale. Ditto the XD7 :)

Seriously, though, if you do want a secondhand X700, take a look at MXV (http://www.mxv.co.uk/). They appear to have one available, and at what I think is a sensible price. I've dealt with them on occasion, and found them pretty good.

Thanks Peter, I'm not in a great hurry to get one, but will probably get one next time I'm up visiting Ffordes, just so that I can add it to my 'collection'

True Steve, plus if you are in the premises and checking out the gear then there is less chance of problems
