Teashop - 38pts, Third place

Mani Puthuran, North Humberside 6x7, 28mm, Fujichrome Provia 100 Mani, who was our Amateur Photographer of the Year 2006, took this shot of a roadside teashop in Kerala, India, as part of a project documenting things from his home town that are disappearing due to modernisation. The man on the right is mixing tea, he says, which Mani waited to capture. Judges say 'This is a fantastic perspective and a well-timed shot. Mani is a terrific photographer and hopefully we'll get to see more of his project as he completes it.'
