Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent - Mark Sykes, W Yorks Editor’s Choice

Mark Sykes, West Yorkshire - Editor’s Choice 21/7/12 Regent Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent - By making a feature of the empty chairs, Mark creates an image that is full of feeling even though it is devoid of people Nikon D700, 24-70mm, 30secs at f/16, ISO 200, tripod While a grand view is great, having a photographic eye is about noticing the details and seeing what is special or interesting about a scene or place. Here, Mark demonstrates this principle very well. It’s a great shot – Damien Demolder, Editor

A striking photo bordering on abstract with strong saturated colour...but why f16. Diffraction will have set in by this aperture unnecessarily softening the image?
