The Canon PowerShot G3 X is a fixed-lens compact camera with a 20.2-million-pixel sensor and a 25x, 24-600mm equivalent f/2.8-5.6 zoom range. It has no built-in electronic viewfinder, but instead sports a high resolution 3.2in 1.62-million-dot touchscreen that can tilt 45° downwards and 180° upwards, so as to face fully forwards for selfies. The optional 2.36-milion-dot Canon EVF-DC1 can be fitted onto the camera’s hotshoe.

Core specs include an ISO125 – 25,600 sensitivity range, shutter speeds of 30-1/2000 sec + bulb, 5.9fps continuous shooting with focus and exposure fixed between frames or 3.3fps with continuous AF (both in JPEG only), and Full HD video recording at up to 60fps. The camera offers a full range of enthusiast-friendly controls, dust-and splash-proof construction, measures 123.3×76.5×105.3mm, and weights 733g including battery and card.  It costs £800.
