Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 product review - taster - INTRODUCTION

Thursday 6th March 2008

INTRODUCTION

Bridge cameras have long appeared to be the ideal all-in-one solution for those wanting the control of an SLR and the convenience of a smaller, lighter camera with a single lens. In most cases this optic has a huge focal length, and the latest Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 is no exception. It has a wide-ranging 18x zoom lens, with built-in optical stabilisation. Although this may seem the perfect camera for those wanting to take the next step up from a compact model, perhaps Panasonic has tried to cram too much in to the camera, resulting in compromises having to be made. If the image quality matches the specification, then the DMC-FZ18 may, for many enthusiasts, be ideal.
