Fujifilm X100T set for Photokina showcase

The X100T is a 16.3-million-pixel high-end compact camera sporting a 23mm f/2 lens (equivalent to 35mm in 35mm format).

Like the X100S, the X100T features an APS-C-size X-Trans CMOS II imaging sensor and EXR Processor II.

When focusing manually, using the optical viewfinder, the focus area is ‘enlarged and displayed in the bottom right of the viewfinder’, explains Fuji.

The digital EVF display is then projected into the space.

‘Users simply need to turn the camera’s focusing ring for a mechanical rangefinder-style view…

‘Manual focusing that was previously difficult with the optical viewfinder is made easier, much like a mechanical rangefinder,’ claims Fuji.

Photographers can then apply Focus Peak Highlight and Digital Split Image to the enlarged area. Magnification of the focusing area can also be changed.

‘With the optical viewfinder, Real-Time Parallax Correction has also been added to ensure more accurate framing.’

The Wi-Fi-enabled X100T is equipped with seven Fn buttons – each customisable and a top electronic shutter speed of 1/32,000.

Fuji says it has reduced the electronic viewfinder’s time lag, while adding automatic brightness control and enhanced Live View settings to the EVF.

And the aperture ring can now be used to set the aperture in 1/3 EV steps, whereas, before, this could only be done using the command lever, which itself has been changed to a command ‘dial’.

The 1.04-million-dot, 3in, LCD screen is an improvement on the X100S’s display which carried a 2.8in, 460k-dot screen.

The original X100 was announced in March 2011, followed a year later by the X100S, featuring a new imaging sensor, processor and advanced hybrid viewfinder.

The X100T is due out in November, priced £999.99, in black and silver coloured versions.

New lenses

November is also expected to see the debut of two new lenses: the Fujinon XF56mm f/1.2 R APD; and Fujinon XF50mm-140mm f/2.8 R LM OIS WR, priced £1,099.99 and £1,249.99 respectively.
