Photographers hit out at Amazon studio lighting patent

Amazon has won a controversial patent for various studio lighting set-ups, causing a considerable stir among photographers, according to reports in the United States.

The patent, granted on 18 March 2014, relates to ‘various embodiments of a studio arrangement' and a ‘method of capturing images and/or video', reported shootthecentrefold.com and PetaPixel.

Amazon's claims each concern a ‘background comprising a white cyclorama', image capture position and the placement of light sources.
