Nikon D7100 crowned best camera in Europe

The Nikon D7100 DSLR has been voted the best camera by magazines that belong to the European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA).

The 2013-2014 EISA judging panel, which included Amateur Photographer (AP) Editor Damien Demolder, praised the D7100 for its ‘excellent image quality and advanced features'.

Judges added: ‘The fast 51-point AF system and high-speed continuous shooting are perfect for capturing action, while the reliable metering system delivers consistently accurate exposures.'

EISA voted the Sony Alpha SLT-99 the best advanced camera, the Canon EOS 100D best SLR and the EOS 6D the top advanced SLR.

Samsung's NX300 was judged the best compact system camera (CSC), while the Olympus Pen E-P5 took the 2013-2014 title for best advanced CSC.

Other winners included the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX50 (best compact); the Fujifilm X100S (advanced compact); and the Olympus Tough TG-2 (top travel camera).

Tamron's SP 90mm f/2.8 Di VC USD Macro 1:1 clinched the award for best lens, while the Tamron SP 70-200mm f/2.8 Di VC USD won European zoom lens of the year.

The Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x scooped the title for best professional optic.
