Pentax makes development announcements at CP+

Pentax is set to make announcements on a raft of new lens gear at the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging show in Japan which starts on Thursday.

Among the developments, announced tonight, is an SMC Pentax-D FA645 90mm f/2.8 portrait lens for the firm’s 645D medium-format camera. The lens is due to be launched this year.

Pentax has also confirmed that new K-mount lenses, also for release at an unspecified time in 2012, will take the form of a 560mm f/5.6 ‘super-telephoto’ and 50mm f/1.8.

A new ‘super-thin’ K-mount lens, specifically designed for the K-O1 is also on the way, but a launch date has not been indicated, suggesting it may not even be released in 2012.

Meanwhile, a new Q-mount ‘telephoto’ zoom lens is on the 2012 radar, though no focal length details have been stated.

Also due out this year is a fixed focal length lens, featuring an ‘eye-catching “body-cap” design, along with a toy-camera-like visual effect’.

Photographers can also expect a lens adapter for mounting a K-mount lens onto a Q-mount camera. Due out this spring, it will boast a ‘built-in shutter unit’ and will only be suitable for manual focusing, says Pentax.
