£16k pricetag for Sigma’s 200-500mm lens whopper

Sigma has confirmed that its massive 200-500mm f/2.8 EX ‘ultra-telephoto’ lens will carry a UK price of £15,999.99.

First showcased last year, the 15,700g monster is designed for photography such as ‘astrophotography, portraits, wildlife and sports’.

A dedicated Li-ion battery pack – housed within the lens body - (BP-21) is used to power the zooming and AF operation, while a built-in LCD panel displays focusing distances and focal lengths.

A dedicated ‘attachment’ aims to deliver a 400-1000mm f/5.6 zoom, adds Sigma.
