Canon has resurrected plans to build a new factory in Japan with news that sales of DSLR cameras are one of the 'few bright spots in the technology sector'.

Canon's shares rose 1.6% on the news.

Press reports today suggest that Canon has decided to go ahead with plans to build the new plant in Japan seven months after the project was postponed in the wake of the global economic downturn.

Amateur Photographer has yet to receive an official comment on this from Canon UK.
