Leica and Panasonic dismiss sell-off talk as speculation

Tuesday 17th February 2009

Chris Cheesman

Leica and Panasonic have dismissed as speculation rumours that Leica may sell part of its camera business to Panasonic.

Rumours on the internet suggest that Panasonic has expressed an interest in acquiring Leica's photography parts and technology.

Leica and Panasonic already have a partnership in the production of digital cameras.

However, a Leica UK spokesman told Amateur Photographer that Leica will 'always be at the receiving end of company strategy speculation'.

A UK spokeswoman for Panasonic said that talk on the internet was just a 'rumour'.
