World's 'fastest' camera primed for spring debut

Monday 7th January 2008

Chris Cheesman

Casio UK has confirmed plans to launch its '60 frames per second' compact, the Exilim Pro EX-F1, in the 'spring'.

A UK price has yet to be announced but reports suggest it will carry a US price of $999.
Plans to launch such a camera were first announced last summer.

Casio claims that the Pro EX-F1 can capture still images at a burst rate of 60 frames per second (fps) at the camera's full resolution of 6-million-pixels; and 1,200fps for movie recording.

In a statement released at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas, USA, Casio claims: 'Using the still image burst mode users can shoot at an ultra fast 60 frames per second. In burst mode, the frame rate can also be varied from between 1 and 60 frames per second while shooting.

'Up to 60 shots can be taken at once, so 60 shots for one second, or 5 shots per second for 12 seconds, are possible.'
