Queen in trousers photo shatters estimate

A lot containing a rare picture of the Queen wearing a pair of trousers sold for £1,050 at an auction this afternoon.

The previously unpublished picture, one of three in the same lot, went on sale at Reeman Dansie auctioneers in Colchester.

Last week auctioneer James Grinter told Amateur Photographer magazine that the lot was valued at just £40-60.

The picture belonged to a relative of the late Marchioness of Cambridge.
