Photokina will give photographers the chance to see Leica's new Pradovit D-1200 projector, which is billed as the smallest and lightest model in its class.

The unit features a Leica Vario-Elmarit-P lens, designed for a projection range of 1-15m.

'The Leica Pradovit D-1200 offers optimally adapted colour management for photo realistic image reproduction, with an image format of 16:10 due to the Digital Light Processing display technology from Texas instruments,' claims the firm. 'This reflecting chip technology provides an actual resolution of 1920x1200 pixels.'

The projector is due out in November priced £7,990, including VAT.

Leica says that, as well as displaying digital images, the projector can show films in 'full HD quality'.

Photokina opens to the public tomorrow (Tuesday 23 September).
