Photographer leaps Grand Canyon with tripod, reports claim

A mystery photographer narrowly escaped a 1km drop after leaping over two rocky ledges in the Grand Canyon wearing just a pair of flipflops, according to media reports.

An amateur photographer recorded the moment of madness as the man jumped the 8ft gap, carrying his camera and tripod under his arm.

Dutch photo enthusiast Hans van de Vorst is trying to track down the, as yet, unnamed daredevil, who had apparently been sunbathing before he jumped.

'He didn't grab the rock properly the first time and slipped back about 50cm before clinging onto it. Even then he didn't look fazed,' said Hans who hopes his pictures will help identify the man.
