Photo Optix name set to survive

The Photo Optix name looks set to remain on the high-street as a prospective purchaser confirms its intention to buy two of the chain's London-based shops.

The news comes a month after the 50-year-old firm suspended trading, forcing it to close ten stores.

Administrators for Photo-Optix Ltd have confirmed that negotiations are taking place for the sale of the Photo Optix stores in Westminster and Chelsea.

'I think they are intending to keep the name,' said Joanne Milner from accountants Smith & Williamson, the appointed administrators.

She told Amateur Photographer that the same prospective buyer is interested in buying both shops but the details of the sale have yet to be finalised.

However, it seems unlikely that customers will benefit from a closing down sale of unsold stock from the axed stores.

Instead, added Milner, remaining stock may be sold on to the prospective buyer.

The name of the third party has not been released.
