Paparazzi and film star 'tensions' explored

Tensions between film stars and paparazzi photographers will be explored in an exhibition opening at the UK's National Media Museum (NMM) next month.
Entitled Live by the Lens, Die by the Lens, the show features paparazzi pics alongside film studio publicity shots to 'expose the reality behind the glamour,' says the West Yorkshire-based museum.
In a statement the NMM adds: 'The exhibition will offer an insight into the relationship between film stars, photographers, publicists and the media, and the tensions inherent in that relationship.'
The celebrities showcased include British actor Jude Law who last year clashed with a paparazzi photographer in London. He was arrested on suspicion of attacking the photographer, but the case was later dropped.
Also featured is American actress Scarlett Johansson who, in 2005, claimed she collided with another car while trying to evade the paparazzi.
Dating from 1915 to the present day, the photos include portraits by Cecil Beaton, Bob Willoughby, Cornel Lucas, Terry O'Neill and Rankin.
Star subjects include Sophia Loren, Greta Garbo and Keira Knightley (pictured).

• Last week a legal decision struck a blow to the paparazzi. Harry Potter author JK Rowling won a Court of Appeal ruling - allowing her to ban future publication of a photograph of her son David. The court's decision overturned a previous High Court ruling that went against her.
