Nikon hints at 'mirrorless' single-lens system camera (update)

Nikon has hinted at plans to launch a new interchangeable-lens system camera that may adopt a 'mirrorless' structure, according to a Japanese press report.

Nikon President Makoto Kimura is quoted as telling Bloomberg news agency that the 'new concept' model is likely to boast enhanced video functionality.

'It could be any time this fiscal year or the following year, as new models are starting to sell,' he said.

A Nikon UK spokesman said: 'As per company policy, Nikon UK is unable to comment on any future product developments.'
