Tuesday 1st July 2008

Zeiss 18mm

Just landed on UK shores from Carl Zeiss is a 'super wideangle' 18mm lens for Nikon, Canon and Pentax SLRs, claimed to deliver 'dramatic perspectives'.

The Distagon T* 18mm f/3.5 is designed for landscape, architectural and close-up photography using 35mm film-based SLRs or full-frame digital SLR cameras.

Features include an all-metal mount and 99° field of view.

'Like all Carl Zeiss SLR lenses it uses the Zeiss 'colour matching technology', which provides homogenous colour rendition across all focal lengths in the product range,' said a Zeiss spokesman.

'Even combined with a digital SLR using a DX-type sensor, this lens has an effective focal length of 27mm - providing an interesting wideangle perspective,' adds the firm

UK stockist Robert White Photographic has confirmed a UK retail price of around £875.
