Sales of classic cameras are defying the recession if the results of an auction in Austria at the weekend are anything to go by.
In total, the Westlicht Photographica auction in Vienna raised €1.1m (around £965,530).
'Regardless of the recent economic situation, this auction was able to hold the high standards of previous auctions both in total turnover as well as the percentage of sold lots,' said Westlicht spokesman Martin Reinhart.
The highlight was the sale of a Leica M4 'olive' camera (pictured) which bowed out for €87,600 (£76,891).
