North-west photo chain Wilkinson Cameras has today opened its new store in Liverpool, which is located on the site of a former Jessops shop that shut down in January.

To celebrate the move, the new outlet has challenged customers to take a photo that ‘sums up Liverpool’, for the chance to win a £100 gift voucher.

Managers say all participants in the Liverpool One Shot competition can claim a free 6x4in print if they visit the store from 24-26 August.

Wilkinson Cameras managing director David Parkinson said: ‘We really want to celebrate the new store opening – and welcome as many photographers and budding photographers as possible.

‘Our team of experts will be on hand to answer any questions and offer advice wherever needed.’

Photography courses are among the store’s planned activities.

The former Jessops outlet – at 51 Lord Street – closed down in January when the company went into administration under former owners.

AP interviewed David Parkinson about his future plans for Wilkinson Cameras earlier this year.

The Liverpool One Shot competition is open until 2 September.
