Open to amateur and professionals worldwide, the overall winner of Travel Photographer of the Year (TPOTY) 2015 stands to pocket £2,500 and gain massive international exposure.

The deadline is 1 October 2015.

There are three portfolio categories, three single-image awards, new talent section for aspiring photographers, plus an HD video category, and Young Travel Photographer of the Year.

This year the contest also features a new category for images captured using a mobile phone or tablet.

Entry fees start at £7.50, while entry to Young Travel Photographer of the Year is free.

Meanwhile, organisers report that the TPOTY summer exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society in London pulled in more than 51,000 visitors.

TPOTY founder Chris Coe said: ‘Our summer 2015 exhibition was our most successful to date. To achieve 51,231 visitors for an outdoor exhibition in the wettest August for many years was just outstanding, and is a tribute to the quality of the imagery on display.’

He added: ‘We now look forward to receiving the final entries for this year’s awards, and I’m confident there will be many superb images among them.’
