This yearu2019s Astronomy Photographer of the Year has pulled in a host of spectacular images and broken an all-time record, say organisers.

The 2014 contest attracted 2,569 entries – a 40% rise on last year – across four main categories: Earth and Space; Our Solar System; Deep Space; and Young Astronomy Photographer of the Year.

The winning images will be showcased at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, London, from 18 September.
