Sony?s compact system camera production has ground to a halt after floods forced the closure of a factory in Thailand, the firm has confirmed to Amateur Photographer.

Earlier this month it was reported that the Sony plant at Ayutthaya ? which makes cameras and lenses – had not suffered major damage.

However, a report by Japan-based industry newsletter Pen – the accuracy of which has since been confirmed by Sony UK – states: ?The factory has stopped operation since 6 Oct and the company said it will stop operation until 14.?

?Operation may resume on Oct 17 depending on the situation.?

On 6 October news agency Bloomberg quoted a Sony spokesman as saying that the factory was ?operating as normal?.
