Sigma's 46-megapixel compact camera Merrill DP2 will be available in the UK from 12 July with a suggested retail price of u00a3799.99.

This compact digital camera features a (4800×3200×3 layers) Foveon X3 APS-C-size image sensor.

The DP2 has a Dual TRUE II image-processing engine dedicated to the Foveon sensor to improve processing speed and overall image quality. The 30mm f/2.8 lens with Super Multi Coating has been designed exclusively for the DP2 (45mm equivalent on a full-frame 35mm).

The camera features a “9-point select mode” autofocus and full manual focusing. Photographs are captured on SD cards (SDXC compatible) using RAW and JPEG file formats. Sigma Photo Pro software is included for processing RAW files. A movie mode captures video VGA size (640×480) at 30 frames per second.

A Quick Set (QS) menu allows photographers quick access and a 3in LCD colour monitor with 920,000 ensures high visibility in daylight conditions.
