Samsung has new 14.7-million-pixel flagship model called the NV100HD, featuring a ?28mm? Schneider Kreuznach lens.

Though, the Korean-based firm is remaining tight-lipped about whether it will launch a new digital SLR in the autumn, a source hinted to AP that we can expect to see one.

Speaking to journalists about upcoming launches at the Photokina trade show in September a spokesman added: ?Rest assured there is more to come. Samsung its stepping up its game in 2008.?

Ahead of Photokina will come a new top-of-the-range compact called the NV100HD.

Due out in August priced around £229 it sports a 3in LCD monitor with a claimed resolution of 460,000 dots.

The Smart Touch 2.0 screen dispenses with the need for buttons on the back of the camera, explains Samsung.

Also on board is a top equivalent ISO sensitivity of 3200 and Face Detection, plus features such as smile mode and blink detection as part of its Perfect Portrait System. This includes a Beauty Shot mode designed to ?smooth out? skin tone by retouching areas such as facial spots.

The Motion Timer mode aims to detect when motion stops to help when capturing portraits using the self-timer. This is designed to prevent the shutter firing before the photographer is in position with the rest of the group.

Still and moving images can be played back in High Definition on an HDTV screen.

The photographer can use the touch screen to rotate images and delete them. And a computer-style ?recycle bin? is included, designed to enable the photographer to quickly retrieve photos they have deleted accidentally.
