Leica has today announced a 7.2-million-pixel digital compact called the C-Lux 2 which is said to use the same image processor as featured on board the company’s Digilux 3 digital SLR.

Announced today at the PMA trade show in Las Vegas the ‘ultra-compact’ C-Lux 2 is expected to be available from May in black or silver-coloured versions, at a price yet to be announced.

The revamped C-Lux 1 sports a Leica DC Vario-Elmarit ASPH lens, designed to deliver the 35mm viewing angle equivalent of a 28-100mm zoom, plus a 2.5in LCD screen.

It also includes ‘Intelligent ISO’ which raises the ISO to 800 when subject movement is detected. And it deploys Mega O.I.S to help minimise camera shake.
