Photographers around the globe are being invited to take a photograph of their local landscape in the early hours of Sunday 4 April.

It?s no April Fool. The ?4am Project? is calling on photographers to upload their pictures to Flickr or email them to project organisers for the chance to win prizes including a Nikon D90 camera.

The project is the brainchild of Karen Strunks who lives in Birmingham. She came up with the idea after a night out.

?I was driving from one side of the city to the other. ?It was around 4am and I was really struck by the cityscape,? said Karen.

?Streets and roads normally teeming with people and traffic were deserted. The city was asleep and it felt like I had it all to myself. I like it.?

She added: ?Some of the world?s most beautiful photos are taken under the cover of night, but as we?re all tucked up in bed at that time, the moment passes us by.?

All photos should be captured between 4am and 5am on 4 April and must be uploaded by 11 April for entry into the competition, say organisers.

Amateur Photographer has requested the full terms and conditions of entry into the competition.
