The Pentax 645D medium format digital camera has been brought to Europe for an invitation-only event that opens today in Paris, France.
The long-awaited 645D will star at the ?Forum de la HD? which takes place today and tomorrow at the Studio Rouchon 36.
Though there is no official word on a European launch Amateur Photographer can confirm that the camera contains menus that are written in various European languages.
Last month Pentax Japan delayed the launch of the 645D, blaming ‘high demand’.
The firm had planned to release the camera onto the Japanese market in May, but said it put back the launch until 11 June because orders exceeded supplies.
The 645D has been beset by delays and uncertainty since a mocked-up version was first displayed at a trade show in Japan more than five years ago.
It is still not clear whether the camera, which features a 40-million-pixel Kodak-made imaging sensor, will go on sale in the UK.
A Pentax UK spokesman could not be reached for comment at the time of writing.
