Panasonic has today announced a firmware update designed to boost the performance of the Lumix DMC-GX1 micro four thirds camera.

Available from the end of this month, Panasonic claims the firmware will improve the performance of the GX1’s auto white balance, AF Flexible and AF Continuous functions.

The firmware is also designed to enhance the performance of the Optical Image Stabiliser (O.I.S) feature on board the firm’s 100-300mm Lumix G Vario f/4-5.6 Mega O.I.S lens.

Announced last year, the GX1 carries a 16-million-pixel imaging sensor borrowed from the G3.

It boasts a 0.09 sec AF speed and maximum equivalent ISO sensitivity of 12,800.
