Panasonic has confirmed that its Lumix DMC-GH1 camera will carry a UK price of £1299.99, including the new 14-140mm lens.

Due out in mid-May, the GH1 is the firm’s first Micro Four Thirds format camera to boast a video recording capability.

Accompanying the camera will be the Lumix G Vario HD 14-140mm f/4-5.8 ASPH, a lens which has been optimised for video.

It features seven aperture blades to help facilitate the smooth aperture movements required for video capture, plus Mega Optical Image Stabilisation.

First announced in March, the Lumix DMC-GH1 will deploy the same Live MOS imaging sensor as the 12.1-million-pixel Lumix G1 which debuted last year.

The GH1 will not be sold body only.

The external microphone pictured is available as an optional extra.
