Olympus will launch three new digital SLRs in the spring in a move designed to help ?double? its DSLR sales, according to Japanese press reports.

Olympus president Tsuyoshi Kikukawa told the financial newspaper Nikkei: ?We are deploying three new models in the spring, expecting to sell 500,000 units next term, making inroads into the DSLR segment that the big two, Nikon and Canon, dominate.?

The interview was translated into English and published in the latest issue of PEN News Weekly.

An Olympus UK spokesman said he was not able to expand on what Kikukawa had said, telling us that more details will be revealed at the Photo Marketing Association trade show in March.
