A new pocket-sized wireless projector that displays images from a smartphone via a Wi-Fi connection has gone on sale in the UK.

Weighing 132g, and measuring 85mmx85mmx17mm, the Pico Aiptek MobileCinema i70 is designed to be the perfect travelling companion.

Data can be transmitted to the projector from iOS and Android devices over Wi-Fi, via AirPlay or Miracast.

The projector is built to project 70 lumens of brightness, and deliver a resolution of 854×480 pixels for an 80in (diagonally measured) image projected onto a wall. It also includes a built-in battery and stereo speakers.

‘Therefore, the small projector is not only perfect for presentations but also for movie nights via smartphone-streaming in hotel rooms, or spontaneous image–slideshows at home with friends,’ explained a Pico spokesman.

The kit comes supplied with an HDMI and a USB cable.

An official UK price has not been provided, but the Pico Aiptek MobileCinema i70 is available on Amazon, for example, for the cost of around £288.
