James D Robinson’s photo of Lucy Worsley, a historian, has been added to the National Portrait Gallery collection, a gallery spokesman confirmed to Amateur Photographer.

James, who is a member of the Royal Photographic Society, told The RPS Journal: ‘I approached Dr Worsley to see if she’d be willing to sit for a portrait.

‘Luckily, she was kind enough to agree.

‘I got in touch with the National Portrait Gallery and the rest, as they say, is history.’

The gallery says the portrait is, currently, not on public display.
