A photo of a semi-naked Brooke Shields, which replaces a controversial nude picture of her as a child actress, has this afternoon been released by Tate Modern.

The move comes a day after Amateur Photographer reported that the Tate has now replaced the original exhibit, which showed Brooke Shields standing naked in a bath in 1975, aged 10.

Yesterday, Tate Modern confirmed that it had substituted the Spiritual America 1983 image following consultation with the artist, Richard Prince.

Instead the exhibition now shows a later version of the work, made by Prince in collaboration with Brooke Shields. It is called Spiritual America 4, 2005.

The picture forms part of the Pop Life: Art in a Material World exhibition which runs at Tate Modern until 17 January 2010.
