‘It was interesting to hear the history behind the photographs…’ said Andrew, owner of the 1930s prints that had been in the family for more than 50 years.

One photo depicts props at the MGM studios, and not a ‘broken-down house’ as the owner had assumed.

Another is an Edward Weston nude study.

However, the owner says he now faces a dilemma after hearing of their value.

‘I’m conflicted. I don’t know whether I should put them back in the box and hide them away or hang them for people to enjoy.’
