Leica has pledged to donate funds to the Association for International Cancer Research for every new follower of Leica’s Twitter account.

The scheme, which begins tomorrow (30 June), follows the success of a similar fundraising project launched by Leica enthusiasts via the Leica User Forum.

Scores of photographers have already raised more than £7,000 for the Association for International Cancer Research though the launch of a 172-page charity book.

The Leica User Forum Charity Book 2010 project invited photographers to submit their best images with an entry fee of £10 per picture.

More than 100 photographers took part and 143 photos were selected for the book.

Leica Camera AG says it will donate ?0.50 to the Association for International Cancer Research, plus an additional ?1,000 if Leica?s Twitter account reaches 10,000 followers by 9 July.
