An online video showing how Fujifilm makes its XF lenses has proved a hit on YouTube.

The video on Fuji’s lens-making process for the XF lenses – which runs for less than three minutes – shows technicians coating lenses, lens barrel processing, surface finishing, polishing, assembly, engraving and final packaging.

The video has gained more than 42,000 views on YouTube. It can also be watched via the Fujifilm website HERE.

In the film, Atsushi Hiroki, one of the technicians, says: ‘Lenses are extremely delicate and have to be handled carefully, just like they are alive.’

Colleague Shigeki Itoh adds: ‘Though we rely on machinery for some parts of the process, every lens is carefully checked by skilled technicians.’
