A fresh batch of 7.2-million-pixel digital compacts has landed in the UK from Sony, all of which are due in shops in February.

A fresh batch of 7.2-million-pixel digital compacts has landed in the UK from Sony, all of which are due in shops in February.

The Cyber-shot DSC-S650, DSC-W35 and DSC-W55 each sport a 3x optical zoom and a 16:9 mode for playing images back on a widescreen TV. They also include a top equivalent ISO sensitivity of 1000 to help shooting in low light.

Powered by a pair of AA batteries the S650 boasts a 2in LCD screen and Sony lens.

While, the W55 and W35 feature a 2.5in and 2in LCD monitor respectively, along with a Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar optic.

The W55 (pictured) and W35 are powered by a rechargeable battery and claimed to focus down to 2cm from the subject.

At the time of writing, prices for the new compacts had not yet been confirmed.
